History of Hip

As popular culture flourished in the postwar years of the 1950s, its consumers and critics debated the quality of each emerging artist, trend and product. This series will explore the mysterious factors that confer hipness on an artist or a fad, and trace the origins of the music and art genres that still register with artists, audiences, and tastemakers today. Snacks will be provided.
